An outback experience indoors

“Halfway There” shown in the JUTE Theatre in Cairns (Queensland) in 2009. Hard times in the middle of no where.

The story of a fish out of water stepping on the toes of the locals and interfering with what had up to then been a tolerable existence “Half Way There” was about a woman who rubbed the locals up the wrong way, created some new gossip and touched a few raw nerves. Set in a typical pub in the outback where all people have as distractions are the relationships they have with each other its not long until the new girl in town starts putting her nose into some very sordid business. Pasts that are unable to be forgotten and grand new plans that will never see the light of day force people to confront themselves and others. The set for Half Way There could be any pub in any outback Australian town, basic, rundown and barely functioning the minimalist set gives all the information that is needed for people to feel that they are one of the locals. Directed by Iain Sinclair, Set Design by Dominie Hooper, Set Construction by Darren Merchant and Lighting by Matt Cox.
