So utterly alone…
Number 1 of a triptych, depicting different points of isolation. Displayed in an exhibition in Cairns QLD as part of an The Upholstery organised initiative called “EX”.This group exhibition related to the way the artists (Beth Shorter, Tania Cobham, Bexley Birrell and Darren Merchant) viewed the world and the way they interacted with it. “Ex” was devised with the intention of highlighting some of the more obscure elements of society. In a world where over population and living within close proximity of each other is becoming the norm, it is apparent more and more people feel less connected to the communities they live in. This charcoal drawing on recycle cotton paper represents that feeling of being alone while being surrounded.
